A poem by...
Gareth Blayney 1998
Last night I had a nightmare and I cant get out
of bed,
Im weighed down by a crown of thorns
fashioned out of lead
I look into the night sky and the clouds are spilling
tears
I listen to the thunder and it rips right through my ears
I wake up to discover my ceiling is my shroud
and the thunder is real and twice as loud
Everywhere I look, the paintings are all fire
and my house is no home, its a funeral pyre
Last night I had a sweet dream and sat amongst the
stars,
and looked down on the cities that grind and crawl with cars
I looked down on the mountains standing tall and
still
and there was nothing to suggest my planet earth was ill
CELEBRATING
DIVERSITY
Visualize a dream
Visualize the world as one nation
Visualize our nation as one neighbourhood
A dream of brotherhood
Respect for all people
A rainbow of diversity
A cornucopia of cultures
Celebrate diversity
It begins with you.
You can change the world
The God who created us,
of all different races,
bonded us.
With one Father, are we not brothers and sisters?
God cares about His people
We must welcome the stranger
We must act toward others with justice and kindness
Treat others as you wish to be treated
All people are His children
Your actions may
hasten the day of the Messiah
You can change the world
Greet with hospitality the stranger of
a different nationality,
a different religion,
a different colour,
a different lifestyle.
Give respect and understanding
It will be returned
May it become contagious
One small step, however,
a beginning.
You have changed the world
